With so much happening in the world right now, we find ourselves at home more than ever. With the cold winter slowly slipping away, our thoughts turn to spring as we open up our windows and refresh our homes. It is during this time of year we feel an inherent need to organize! Below are some helpful tips as you start to tackle your closet and reorganize.

-Throw out or donate clothes that don’t fit. This seems obvious, but we all tend to hang on to items too long. If it’s been over a year, maybe it’s time to let go.

-Remember your floor space. Often we think of closets only for hanging items, but can overlook we have valuable space that could accommodate a dresser or lower shelving.

-Add lighting. Illuminating your space will make it feel bigger as well as serving a practical function. It is so much easier to see what you need!

-Don’t forget that upper shelf. This is prime area to stack boxes and baskets for lesser used items.

-Paint your walls a lighter color. Like adding lighting, this works wonders to making your space more appealing and practical.

-Use your doors. Hang hooks to store handbags, scarves or belts. These items will be out of the way, but still accessible.

-Lastly, maintain your space. If you bring something new in, consider letting something go. Try to reorganize at the change of every season, instead of just annually. That way you can enjoy a functional space year round!
